Vanilla, also called Crystal PvP, is the flagship MCTiers gamemode. Players fight with crystals, obsidian, respawn anchors and a sword on a flat arena, and fights are decided by placement, timing and knowing exactly when to commit.

What the gamemode tests

Crystal PvP is the least forgiving of the eight gamemodes: one badly placed crystal ends a fight. Testers look at how fast you can set up a crystal cycle, whether you protect yourself while doing it, and whether you know when to disengage instead of trading. Aim matters, but positioning decides most exchanges.

How to climb the Vanilla tier list

The most common reason players stall in the middle tiers is predictable placement. If a tester can read where your next crystal goes, they will pre-place around it. Practise varying your cycle, using obsidian defensively, and resetting to a safe position after a failed push. Players who reach HT tiers are usually the ones who lose fewer fights to their own mistakes than to their opponent’s skill.
