SMP sits between organised PvP and survival combat. The kit is wider, the fights are messier, and opponents behave less predictably than in the dedicated weapon gamemodes.

What the gamemode tests

SMP rewards adaptability. Testers look at whether you can read an opponent who is not following a rehearsed pattern, whether you improvise with the wider kit, and whether you stay composed when a fight does not go the way you planned. Players who only know one combo tend to stall here.

How to climb the SMP tier list

Practise against players who play differently from you rather than grinding the same opponent. The variety in SMP is the point: the more situations you have seen, the fewer surprises a tester can create. Players who reach HT tiers in SMP usually have broad experience across the other gamemodes too, because the skills transfer directly.
